Deepak Dalela, a Mechanical Engineer from the esteemed M.B.M. Engineering College in Rajasthan is also a Certified Quality Engineer & Internal Auditor. He has more than 30 years of rich and varied experience in Gemstone & Jewellery Trade. He is considered an expert in Gemology and Lapidary & Jewellery Technology.

He led the MEGSAT project (Mass Employment Generation through Science & Technology) at Jaipur for the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, aimed at imparting Gemstone Processing Training to unemployed youth.  He visited and researched various countries adept at modern Gemstone & Jewellery Technology – post that he carried out intensive R&D and indigenized machines and processes successfully to suit Indian conditions without compromising on quality.

He has worked with UNIDO, World Bank, European Council, Common Wealth Secretariat and African & Indian Governments, for the establishment of Gemstone & Jewellery Training Centres and Common Facility Centres in Mongolia, Zambia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Malawi and others Countries for processing of local Gemstone Rough and Jewellery Manufacturing on spot to promote Employment  Generation, Value Addition  and  Enhancement of Exports.

Deepak has also worked with Government of India for establishment of Gemstone & Jewellery Training cum Production Centres through Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship to provide skill-based trainings and create sustainable employment opportunities as well as business avenues. Similar projects have been undertaken with other State Governments.

Presently, he heads the Centre for Development of Gem & Jewellery (CDOJ) which specializes in Technology Transfer, Turnkey Projects, Gemstone & Jewellery Trainings and related research and development. Website : www.cdoj.org.in
